The jackhammer machine guns the pavement
rattling morning windows
muffled the deeper it bites, crumbling asphalt
tumbles up
concentration shattered
the fragile chamber where a trellised choir
unhinges the gift from the sun
to loosen my tongue pulses
with the backup beep of the bus.
Spring is really here!
